Hey Guys!
We did it. We beat the Rams...barely! I won't get into everything that went wrong for the 9ers, i.e. Shaun Hills' poor decision making, the bad play of the offensive line, the poor job of Deshaun Foster, etc. Instead, i'm going to focus on the positives of the game.
The main positive was our 4th Quarter Play- Against the Cardinals, the Dolphins, the Eagles, and the Giants, poor 4th quarter play doomed the 49ers. All of those were winnable games going into the 4th quarter, but the 9ers found a way to lose them. Against the Bills, the Jets, and now against the Rams, the 49ers have shown the ability to finish a game strong. Down 16-3 going into the 4th quarter, Shaun Hill stepped up and threw his only TD's of the game. The defense played strong, and the WR's (namely Josh Morgan- a young guy who i've been excited about ever since we drafted him)made plays. It was this kind of 4th quarter play that lends itself as a sneak preview of future seasons where our young Defense steps up and we get clutch playing from the Offense.
Also, i would like to offer a heart-felt congratulations to Isaac Bruce who caught his 1,000th pass and moved into #2 behind another 49ers great, Jerry Rice, in receiving yards.
Looking ahead to the Redskins game: 7 wins is within our grasp! I am almost positive that this game is going to be a statement game against the Redskins for 2 reasons:
1) Mike Singletary can either finish the season 4-5 or 5-4. This would make a huge difference. At 4-5, he looks like just another interim head coach who is destined for mediocrity. At 5-4 however, he looks like a quality head coach who can bring a much needed change to a dying 49ers organization.
2) The 49ers can finish the season on an up-note and show the rest of the league that they are the contenders in the NFC instead of pretenders. A statement win at a good but reeling Washington Redskins team will help show the league that the 49ers are ready to win, and that they are a confident team.
To help this team attitude, the 49ers have"added" to their throwback uniforms for the game against the Redskins: They will all be sporting mustaches as a symbol of their team unity and their determination to win a BIG game against the Redskins.
I want to also take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Holidays! I'll leave you with this picture of the plea for 'staches:
