Sean Mullis's San Francisco 49ers Fan Profile

Who am I?

I am a life-long sports fan currently going to Cal Poly, SLO. I have followed bay area sports my whole life. 49ers, Giants, Cal Football, A's, Sharks, and Warriors are my teams and will root for them over all others in the league. However, I am interested in all the different aspects of the sports I love and that includes watching other teams besides my hometown teams. I have written short letters that were published in the San Jose Mercury News. I also contributed ncaa draft prospect evaluations to gridironevaluations.com (mostly about Cal football and other Pac-10 teams). I have always enjoyed writing but I enjoy writing about sports the most. Enjoy

Giants: Who''s behind the plate? posted on 09/20/2008
It has been a while since the giants have been able to say this, but they actually have a surplus of quality players at a position. With Bengie Molina having a team-mvp type season, pablo sandoval quickly showing that he has the potential to be a real force in the league, and prospect Buster Posey in the minors, the Giants are going to have a tough choice at catcher. As great as molina has been this year, he is 32, and a big, slow player who is going to decline quickly when his body starts to go after a career at a tough position. that leaves sandoval and posey as the C of the future. Ideally one would take over at catcher while the other shifts to a corner IF spot. Sandoval has an almost even split of games played at C, 1B, and 3B. That make him the more suitable player to shift

JT O'Sullivan: Franchise QB or stopgap? posted on 09/20/2008

JT O'Sullivan's recent moderate success (96.3 rating, 1 td, 1 int) has served only to make the 49ers qb situation murkier. What we know: Alex Smith is gone (thankfully), JT O'Sullivan is a free agent. What we do not know: Is JT O'Sullivan the qb who can finally make the 49ers call off our search for a savior at quarterback? Or is he merely a decent player filling in until we find the franchise player we need. The niners really have 3 realistic scenarios for qb.

Scenario #1 : JT succeeds and is resigned. The biggest measure of the success would be a playoff spot. The Niners, at 1-1 (could be 2-0 if we didnt have so many turnovers against the Cards), are still obviously in contention and could possibly steal the division with a 9-7 record (the niners probably will not challenge for a wild-card spot if they falter in the division, with all 4 nfc east teams appearing strong). If JT can achieve this big yet possible goal, he would have at least earned another year at the helm. However, if the niners some how make the playoffs
